Welcome to my EOCT Page

Welcome everybody to my updated Georgia Biology Milestone/EOCT practice webpage. My name is Mr. Obinna Uchime and I have been teaching high school biology since the 2011 – 2012 school year. I have seen the Georgia Biology Standards change twice, however much of the general content remained the same (cells, genetics etc). On this page you will find mostly free study guides, practice test, and a collection of resources that I have gathered throughout the years. I have learned through the years that using both a study guide and practice biology milestone questions appears to be the best method for getting students to proficient and/or distinguished . To create some of the study guides and test questions on the page, I used the Georgia Department of Education’s Georgia Milestone Biology EOC Assessment Guide. If you have any questions about biology or teaching in general you may reach out to me directly by using the form below. For everybody, feel free to use this material in your classrooms and at home.

Summary of the Biology Milestone Assessment

Hey everybody.  This year’s biology milestone assessment contains 46 items.  This means that there should be no more than 42 to 46 questions on the actual exam. There are two sections on the Biology Milestone Exam and each section contains around 21 questions each.  The total testing time for the Georgia Biology Milestone is 80 minutes which equals 40 minutes per section, unless a student has extended time which would make it a total testing time of 120 minutes or 60 total minutes per section.

From my experience, practice tests and reviewing study guides are the most effective way to review/practice/prepare for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOCT.  Click here for the free version of my 2022 – 2023 study guide which can help students with the recall component of biology. The free study guide is a PDF file that can be printed out for you or your students to write on.  Click here if you would like the digital version of my free study guide which was created on Google Doc.  On this version, you or your students will be able to type your answers on the study guide.

In the section below, I have created three practice exams that mimic the balance of questions that can be found on the actual biology milestone test.  These practice exams should give students a feel of the actual Biology Milestone Assessment. Lastly, on a platform called Formative, I have created practice tests that mimic the digital requirements of the Biology Milestone EOC to include multiple choice, inline choices, drag and drop, and category questions.  In order to access my Formative assessments that mimic the Biology Milestone Exam to include question percentages, you will have to have a Formative account.  My district has Formative so it is the digital platform that I use to create practice problems or I will use other test bank questions to then modify their questions.  If you have a Formative account, click here for my Mock Biology Milestone Part I or click here for my Mock Biology Milestone Assessment Part II.  I set the timer to 40 minutes for each section to mimic the actual Biology Milestone EOC timing and to help students with pacing.  I have heard from other teachers and students that the Georgia Biology Milestone is very wordy so it is important that students get used to the time restraints because students can easily run out of time if they are not pacing themselves correctly. Please review my tips and strategies for the milestone assessment in one of the sections below.

Biology Standard 1 - Practice Test by the Element

Georgia Biology Standard 1 contains the Domain – Cells on the Georgia Biology Milestone/EOC/EOCT.  The Cells Domain includes Cells, Cellular Reproduction, Macromolecules and enzyme, cellular transport, and cellular energy.  Use the practice tests below to focus on each individual element. In some cases, reviewing individual elements might be the better method for getting ready for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOC.

Biology Standard 2 - Practice Test by the Element

Georgia Biology Standard 2 contains the half of the Domain – Genetics and Heredity on the Georgia Biology Milestone/EOC/EOCT.  This standard of the Domain includes DNA replication, transcription/translation (protein synthesis), errors during reproduction, and the ethical consideration of biotechnology. Use the practice tests below to focus on each individual element. In some cases, reviewing individual elements might be the better method for getting ready for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOC.

Biology Standard 4 - Practice Test by the Element

Georgia Biology Standard 4 contains the Domain -Classification and Phylogeny on the Georgia Biology Milestone/EOC/EOCT.  This standard of the Domain includes endosymbiosis (the origins of eukaryotes), classification, cladograms, dichotomous keys, phylogeny, and comparing viruses with living organisms typically bacteria also known as the characteristics of life. Use the practice tests below to focus on each individual element. In some cases, reviewing individual elements might be the better method for getting ready for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOC.

Biology Standard 5 - Practice Test by the Element

Georgia Biology Standard 5 contains the Domain – Ecology on the Georgia Biology Milestone/EOC/EOCT.  This standard of the Domain includes biodiversity, population size, carrying capacity, energy flow through an ecosystem (food chain, food webs, energy pyramid), the rule of ten, respiration, photosynthesis, and other biological processes resulting in energy lost as heat,  water/nitrogen/carbon cycles,  predicting environment change (primary and secondary succession, deforestation, etc), reducing human impact on the environment, and predicting how an organism will adapt to environmental change. Use the practice tests below to focus on each individual element. In some cases, reviewing individual elements might be the better method for getting ready for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOC.

Biology Standard 6 - Practice Test by the Element

Georgia Biology Standard 6 contains the Domain – Evolution on the Georgia Biology Milestone/EOC/EOCT.  This standard of the Domain includes Earth’s history and genetics to understand the concept of evolution, speciation, evidence for evolution, using mathematical models to predict genetic drift, and designing models of biological resistance.  Use the practice tests below to focus on each individual element. In some cases, reviewing individual elements might be the better method for getting ready for the Georgia Biology Milestone EOC.

Practice Tests by the Standard (SB1 through SB6)

In the space below, I have created six practice test based on each of the six Georgia Biology Standards of Excellence.  It is oftentimes better to review entire standards with students to better prepare them for the Georgia Biology Milestone to clear up misconceptions about a particular Domain.  In other words, use these test a Georgia Biology Milestone Review.

Biology Coach Book - 2017

In the space below, I have provided an old resource that I had inside my classroom from the 2017 – 2018 school year that aligns with the Georgia Biology Standards of Excellence.  I no longer have this resource inside my classroom because a fellow science teacher that was using my room for summer school felt it would better serve their classroom (yes, they stole them, the same year my school received them).  Luckily, someone scanned a book for me and each of the chapters they scanned are below. I hope this resource can help you.
